Monash Study Abroad's exchange and study abroad programs provide opportunities for students already enrolled in a university overseas to add to their educational experience by doing part of their degree at Monash University. Students may enrol at Monash for either one or two semesters in a wide range of study areas.

About Us

Why Monash?
Established in 1958, Monash University is the youngest member of the highly-regarded Group of Eight universities. In just over fifty years we have grown to become the largest university in Australia, renowned for our outstanding education, transformative research, global reach and extensive alumni network.

Monash University is ranked in the top 1% of world universities by the Times Higher Education Supplement (2011-2012). In a recent study published in The New York Times, more than 200 CEOs from the world's most successful companies rated Monash in the top 50 of world universities from which to hire graduates (20 October 2011).

Exchange or Study Abroad with Monash?
Students can choose to study one or two semesters across a variety of disciplines. Exchange students remain enrolled with and continue to pay tuition to their home university. If your home university does not have a student exchange agreement with Monash, you may apply for study abroad places and pay tuition fees directly to Monash.

Eligibility
Monash Abroad accepts applications for the exchange and study abroad programs from students currently enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degrees.
To be eligible you must have:

  • completed one year or more of post-secondary studies at an accredited degree-granting university or institution of higher education;
  • a minimum GPA of 3.0 or the equivalent; and
  • meet the Monash English language requirements.

Intakes and Deadlines
To study at Monash from February to June, applications close November 15. To study from July to November applications close by April 15.

How to Apply
If your home university has an exchange arrangement with Monash, you must be nominated by your home university and you will need to apply through your international or study abroad office. For Study Abroad students, you can apply directly to Monash. Visit www.monash.edu/studyabroad for application forms.

Facilities and Services
Monash has state-of-the-art multimedia lecture theatres, around 120 computer labs and more than 2500 workstations with access to online resources. All campuses offer sporting facilities, bookshops and other speciality shops, restaurants and cafes and a comprehensive range of student support services. Student Support
The Monash Abroad office has been established to support all exchange and study abroad students at Monash. The staff will provide a first point of contact for you throughout your stay and can help you with everything from choosing your courses to catching local buses. Monash Abroad services include tailored orientation, on-campus accommodation assistance, airport reception and emergency assistance.
