About Us
MLC is a day and boarding school for girls with over 2100 students. There is an early learning centre 'MLC Kindle' for girls and boys from six weeks to five years. While we are justly proud of our quality staff and superb facilities, one of MLC's strengths is the individual character development of our students. Our dedicated staff builds on the individual aptitudes and learning styles of each student, instilling a passion for learning.
Student Services
Care of our students is a priority at MLC, and underpins all teaching and learning programs. There is a wide support network for international students including a dedicated International Student Coordinator, teaching and counselling staff, language support through English as a Second Language classes, an international students' committee and a Big Sister program, which ensures that each international student is supported in her new environment.
Co-curricular opportunities
MLC offers an enormous range of extra activities and clubs for students to pursue their interests and take on leadership roles. There are also fabulous opportunities for involvement in sporting and music pursuits, education outdoors, social service activities and sustainability initiatives.
Residential living at MLC
Boarding today is an exciting option! MLC's boarding experience at Tiddeman House offers a world of opportunity, diversity and excellence. Surrounded by traditional leafy gardens, Tiddeman House provides a happy home for almost 120 students from Years 7-12 from Australia and around the world. A global village; it is a place where respect, care and understanding are paramount, fulfilling the role of the boarder's extended family. Tiddeman House is a safe and caring environment that combines tradition with modern facilities.
Senior boarders have the option to join the Transition to Tertiary Program; a program tailored to prepare students for tertiary life. The College leases fully furnished apartments at Swinburne Place, a student complex designed for academic studies, just a short stroll from MLC. Every student has their own bedroom with generous workspace and broadband access. Support and guidance is close at hand with an MLC residential tutor on duty every evening.

MLC provides wonderful learning spaces. Specialist buildings include the Music School, science precinct and extensive library and research facilities incorporating a high-tech Multi-Media Centre.
Courses
Curriculum
MLC offers one of the broadest curricula in Australia. In Years 11 and 12, students choose between three distinct learning pathways - the International Baccalaureate (IB), Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and VCE VET (Vocational Education and Training), to create a course that matches their interests and goals, with over 70 different subjects offered.
Excellent results
MLC's outstanding academic performance continued in 2010 with over half of MLC students (159 students equating to 50.5%) achieving an ATAR or Notional ATAR above 90.
- 20 students achieved an ATAR or Notional ATAR score above 99
- Seven IB students received an IB score of above 42 equating to a Notional ATAR of above 99
- Two VCE, VCE VET students achieved an ATAR of 99.90
- 20 VCE, VCE VET students achieved 22 perfect study scores. Perfect study scores were attained in 16 different VCE, VCE VET subjects.
