About Us
La Trobe was established in 1964 as Victoria's third university. The main campus is located in Melbourne - a city that was once again rated the world's most liveable in 2011 after a string of high rankings since 2002 (Economist Intelligence Unit, London).
What sets us apart?
Ambassador scholarships - Scholarships are valued at AUD$1000 per student. In 2012, La Trobe University provided more than AUD$40,000 to support the Study Abroad Ambassador Scholarship scheme.
Australian studies - Australian studies is an innovative and challenging interdisciplinary program that seeks to give students an understanding of Australian society and culture in a global context.

Field trips - Add to your exposure to Australian culture and the environment by combining your studies with a subject involving field trips and practical learning. Subjects include botany, zoology, conservation, earth science and marketing.
Internships* - Boost your study abroad adventure by combining your studies with a practical placement. Types of placements include:
- a media studies internship
- a nature tourism practicum at the
- Bendigo campus
- an education research practicum
- a sports management project.

Outdoor education - La Trobe University offers outdoor education programs at the Bendigo campus. These programs allow students to experience excitement and adventure while learning more about themselves and the environment.
Pre-orientation trip - Kick off your semester by joining us on the preorientation trip. What better way to ease into Aussie life than a weekend escape to the spectacular coastline along the Great Ocean Road!

Student Services
Life at La Trobe includes the opportunity to be part of a multitude of active clubs, international student organisations and groups at any of the university's six campuses. There are sports centres, swimming pools and tennis courts at the Melbourne, Bendigo and Albury- Wodonga campuses. La Trobe has a dedicated team of staff who understand the difficulties international students might face in adjusting to a new culture and environment, and in trying to make new friends. Just some of our comprehensive international student services include a free airport or railway reception service and advice and assistance regarding visas, health insurance and tuition fees.
Courses
More than 280 degrees are available to international students across undergraduate, postgraduate coursework and higher degree by research levels. La Trobe has five faculties: Business, Economics and Law; Education; Health Sciences; Humanities and Social Sciences; and Science, Technology and Engineering.
