The Study Abroad program meets the needs of international students who wish to spend a single semester or full academic year studying in Australia. Subjects are specially selected and can be credited to degree programs back home.
Student Services
La Trobe University provides many services to help students adjust to living in Australia. We understand the difficulties international students might face in a new culture and landscape, making new friends and studying successfully, all at the same time. Our staff ensure you don't have to cope with this on your own.
Services include:
- assistance with visa, health insurance and temporary accommodation
- a free airport or railway reception service
- arrival and pre-departure information
- a Welcome Festival orientation
- advice and support on personal, financial or cultural issues, life in Australia and study at La Trobe University
- specialised information for sponsored students and students with families.
Study Abroad Scholarship
The Study Abroad Ambassador Program, initiated and coordinated by La Trobe University, awards 10 to 15 scholarships each semester to students who most creatively describe ways in which they plan to share their La Trobe study abroad experience upon return to their home country. Information is available on the La Trobe International website.

- The La Trobe lifestyle is unbeatable with a range of campuses situated in stunning natural environments-all in reach of Melbourne. The La Trobe Study Abroad program immerses students in campus life and Australian culture through numerous opportunities: from student trips to clubs and societies, to sports and adventure clubs.
- Melbourne (Bundoora): This is La Trobe University's largest campus and one of the most attractive university campuses in Australia. The Melbourne (Bundoora) campus covers 330 hectares (500 acres) of stunning parkland with waterways and a wildlife sanctuary. Travel to central Melbourne takes 20-30 minutes by bus or car and 50 minutes by tram.
- Bendigo: This is the University's second largest campus located on 33 hectares of attractive bushland, 150 kilometres (93 miles) from Melbourne. Students easily find their way around the campus and get to know people, and feel part of the university community.
- Albury-Wodonga: This is a major regional campus, located 350 kilometres (218 miles) north-east of Melbourne. The small campus size offers international students more personalised attention and a safe, supportive environment for developing English language proficiency and academic study.
