CQUniversity English Language Centre (ELC) is situated in Rockhampton, on the Tropic of Capricorn - a major regional city in the heart of Queensland, and is located on the university campus.

Rockhampton has an excellent climate and has easy access to beautiful beaches, islands and the famous Australian Outback.
The ELC is situated on the spacious campus of CQUniversity with excellent facilities and infrastructure. It offers a tranquil, safe location with individual attention
for students. There is a diverse range of nationalities studying at the centre with students from Asia, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East. Our students also have the opportunity to meet local students and participate in a range of cultural activities while enrolled in English programs.
The ELC is a member of English Australia and UECA and is NEAS Accredited. It is also an accredited IELTS testing centre with places in monthly IELTS tests available. Our teachers are accessible, highly qualified, very experienced and will provide personal attention and support.
Student Services
CQUniversity offers free internet access 24 hours a day. Facilities include: a multi-level library with easy access to resources, a campus-based commercial centre with post office, bookshop, food outlets, hairdresser, travel agency and ATM, and a sports complex with a gym, swimming pool, indoor sports centre and sporting grounds.
CQUniversity ELC can arrange a free 'meet and greet' at the Brisbane International Airport and free airport pick up at the Rockhampton airport on request.
Accommodation options include: on-campus residence, homestay or shared rental houses or apartments. We also offer student support and regular organised social activities.
Courses
General English
The General English program offers English for everyday use - work, travel, living, and as a pathway to advanced English studies and preparation for university. This program provides an opportunity to improve speaking, reading, listening and writing skills. You can join a General English class on any Monday (except scheduled vacations) and you can study for any length of time up to 52 weeks depending on your visa requirements.
There is no IELTS entry requirement. However, you will do a placement test when you arrive so that you join the right class.
English for Academic Purposes 2 (EAP2) - 10 weeks
This program coincides with the commencement of Foundation EAP DE terms. It includes intensive practice of reading, writing, listening and speaking
tasks required for university study. It includes research, information literacy and computer skills necessary for producing academic assessments. If you meet all requirements of this 10 week program you are able to progress to the EAP DE without the need to sit a further IELTS test.
Entry Requirements: IELTS of 5.0 or equivalent; or a pass at intermediate level from an Australian accredited English program.
English for Academic Purposes - Direct Entry (EAP DE) - 10 weeks
This course coincides with the commencement of university terms and is designed to familiarise you with academic life and provide students with hands-on practice with a variety of academic activities undertaken by university students. Upon successful completion, if you have an offer of a place in a CQUniversity program with a minimum English requirement of IELTS 6 with no band score of less than 5.5, you may progress to the degree program
without the need to sit a further IELTS test.
Entry Requirements: IELTS 5.5 or equivalent; or successful completion of EAP 2.
English Language Study Tours
The English Language Centre at Rockhampton can design tailored English Study Tours for individual institutions or groups. The Tours can combine English study with local tours of islands and beaches, interaction with Rockhampton schools for sport and other activities, outback tourism, regional industries such as mining or beef cattle, Australian indigenous culture, and other themes as requested.
