General English - Rockhampton
The general English program offers English for everyday use and as a pathway to advanced English studies and preparation for university. This program provides an opportunity to improve speaking, reading, listening and writing skills. This is a unique program. Due to its rolling enrolment you may join a class on any Monday (except scheduled vacations) and study for a maximum of 52 weeks depending on visa CQUniversity boasts four excellent English Language Centres at our Rockhampton, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney campuses. It is an English Australia (EA) member college and a member of University English Centres Australia (UECA). requirements. This course does not have an IELTS entry requirement; however, you must sit a placement test to ensure you are placed into the correct class.
English for academic purposes 1 (EAP1)
- Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney
This ten-week program does not assume prior exposure to academic skills and introduces you to academic English skills and concepts in the fields of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Successful completion of EAP1 grants entry to EAP2.
Entry requirements:
- IELTS of 4.5 or equivalent
- internal placement test is available.
English for academic purposes 2
(EAP2) - Gold Coast, Melbourne, Rockhampton and Sydney
This ten-week program coincides with the commencement of foundation studies, diploma and EAP DE terms. It includes intensive practice of reading, writing, listening and speaking tasks required for university study. The program includes research, information literacy and computer skills. If you meet all requirements of this program you are eligible for direct entry to CQUniversity foundation studies, diploma programs or EAP DE without the need to sit a further IELTS test.
Entry requirements:
- IELTS of 5.0 or equivalent; or
- successful completion of EAP1.
English for academic purposes
direct entry (EAP DE) - Gold Coast, Melbourne, Rockhampton and Sydney
This ten-week program teaches you highlevel skills in reading, writing, listening, speaking, research, information literacy, critical thinking and computer skills. You are required to complete tasks modelled on those found in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Upon successful completion of EAP DE, you may progress to an undergraduate or postgraduate program that requires a minimum IELTS of 6, with no band score of less than 5.5, without the need to sit a further IELTS test, providing you have received an offer of a place from CQUniversity.

- ELTS 5.5 or equivalent; or
- successful completion of EAP2.
English language study tours -
Rockhampton
The English language centre at Rockhampton designs tailored English study tours for individual institutions or groups. Tours combine English study with other extracurricular activities including tours of islands and beaches, interaction with Rockhampton schools for sport and other activities, outback tours, tours of regional industries, Australian Indigenous culture and other themes as requested.
