Courses
General English (ELICOS) is available at five levels, from Elementary to Advanced, so you will find a class that meets your needs and allows you to progress at your own pace. You will gain comprehensive English training which focuses on reading, writing, speaking and listening and includes some IELTS test preparation.
Students develop English skills through various learning methods:
- classroom teaching and participation
- online learning materials
- private study and group work
- use of the Independent Learning Centre
- participating in excursions
- homework and projects.
Students will also learn a range of study skills which will assist them to prepare for further studies.
Once students complete their English language course, an English and study skills program is offered to all students undertaking vocational courses. The support provided includes individual support, group classes and online resources.
All students are welcome to enrol in General English, including those on tourist visas or business visas who may only wish to study for five or 10 weeks. Other students may wish to study English for a longer period of up to 40 weeks or longer. Chisholm students choose from over 90 courses. Thousands of them began their journey at the Chisholm English Language Centre.
IELTS Preparation
This intensive program provides a comprehensive familiarisation with all areas of the IELTS test. Students are introduced to the sections of the test including reading, listening, speaking and writing. Students develop test taking skills, time management skills for the test and undertake graded practice tests under simulated conditions.
Teacher training program
Would you like to teach English as a foreign or second language in Australia or overseas? If the answer is yes, then the Certificate IV in TESOL (Teaching English to speakers of Other Languages) is for you. This is a nationally accredited course run over four weeks full time.
