About Us
ACU is a public university open to students and staff of all beliefs, nationalities and cultures. With a community of 20,000 students, ACU is the only Australian university with major campuses in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. We provide English language students with a small and friendly learning environment together with all the support and amenities available within a major university campus. Courses
English for Academic Purposes (EAP): Direct Entry (Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne)
This course gives you the opportunity to improve your English language proficiency in a supportive university environment. More than an English language course, it is a chance to gain the skills for academic success. Upon successful completion of EAP you will meet the English language requirements of most ACU diploma courses, undergraduate degrees and postgraduate programs.
General English (Sydney, Melbourne)
This course will enable you to develop fluency, accuracy and confidence in listening, speaking, reading and writing in English in everyday situations. You will gain an understanding of Australian society and culture through activities in the classroom and interesting off-campus excursions. You can also take this course to help you improve your English language skills before you move on to an academic English program.
English for the Workplace (Brisbane)
This unique course is designed specifically to help you develop the English language and intercultural skills needed to be successful in an Australian workplace. If you have an Australian student visa or a working holiday visa we can arrange an internship for you in addition to the 20 hours of class tuition each week. This program will provide you with first-hand experience of an Australian workplace, which could be an important step towards your future career.
IELTS Test Preparation (Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne)
This course will prepare you for the academic module of the IELTS test or the ACU English test. It focuses on giving you a clear understanding of the skills and strategies you need to be successful. The course is organised around a series of topics that match those found in the IELTS test, such as technology, society and the environment. By completing the 12-week IELTS Test Preparation program you may expect to improve your overall IELTS level by at least 0.5.
